MASINTÍN Blanco de Itata 2023
Masintin Blanco De Itata 2023 is a unique wine from Chile's Itata Valley. Cultivated by Lucía Torres and Nelson Guenante, the old ungrafted vines (80 years old) contribute to its remarkable texture. Hand-harvested grapes, organic viticulture, and minimal intervention showcase the freshness and layers of stone fruits and flowers. A super exciting, one-of-a-kind wine.
Grapes
39% Semillon, 61% Moscatel
Tasting notes
Lovely savoury aroma that has a suggestion of dried grasses and chamomile, plus a
marked briny, iodine note of an oxidatively made wine – but not excessively so. Highly
complex aroma and favour, deeply and richly textured, reminiscent of a Manzanilla.A many-layered wine with excellent freshness.
Vinification
Grapes were hand harvested, destemmed and directly pressed. Semillon fermented in new 500L Marsannay barrels, while the Moscatel was fermented in stainless steel tanks for about 25 days under controlled temperature conditions. After fermenting the wine was aged in steel tanks for 11 months prior bottling.
